The most common cause of a slow connection is a virus infection and or your system being infected with Spyware and or Adware. To prevent a slow connection it's a good practice to clean your system regularly of Spy and Adware. As well, make sure you have virus software installed, and your definitions are up to date and your system checked and cleaned of viruses.

Even if your computer is brand new, regular maintenance of the above is crucial to keeping your connection running smoothly.

NOTE: make sure you have no peer to peer programs running in the background while doing a speed test, this includes any music downloading programs. Also, if you have more then one computer connected to the Internet, your speeds will be less.

758999.8 Bits/sec

94873.6 Bytes/sec
92.65 Kilobytes/sec

As long as the final number is close to 122 kilobytes/sec for Warp 1 and 244 kilobytes/sec for Warp 2 then your speeds are ok. But you have to remember we offer speeds UP TO 1MBit/s and UP TO 2Mbit/s.

Don't mistaken the 10/100 you see in your system tray as your Internet speed. That is your speed of the connection between the computer and other equipment attached.

Spyware FAQ

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, which is not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Ad-Aware will find infected files SpyBot doesn't. It's good to use both in combination.

With its ability to scan your RAM, Registry, hard drives, and external storage devices for known data mining, advertising, and tracking components, Ad-aware can easily rid your system of these tracking components, allowing you to maintain a higher degree of privacy while you surf the Web.
