Slow Speeds
Note: Cochrane Telecom Services
is neither responsible nor affiliated in any manner for any use of
software linked on this page.
The most common cause of a slow connection is a
virus infection and/or your system is infected with Spyware. To prevent
slow connections, it is good practice to scan your system regularly to
prevent any unwanted Spyware from entering your system. Additionally,
ensure you have an antivirus program installed and that the software is
up to date and scans on a regular basis.
Even if your computer is new, regular
maintenance is essential in order to keep your connection running
quickly and smoothly.
Test Your Speed
Note: Please ensure there are no
peer-to-peer programs running while doing a speed test. This includes
any music or movie downloading programs. Additionally, performing a
speed test over a wireless connection will provide inaccurate results.
Please ensure this test is performed over a wired connection.

2. Click the
button "Begin Test"
After clicking the "Begin Test" button, your
computer will test internet speed between your location and our office.
Two tests will be performed including a Download Speed Test and an
Upload Speed Test. Speed test results will vary depending on location,
network congestion, the condition of the networking equipment and your
computer. Below is an example of average results users will see using
our Warp Packages:
| Download Bandwidth Speeds |
Upload Bandwidth Speeds |
| Warp 1 - 1.5 Mbps to 2.0 Mbps |
All Warp Packages |
| Warp 2 - 2.3 Mbps to 3.0 Mbps |
0.5 Mbps to 1.0 Mbps |
| Warp 3 - 4.1 Mbps to 5.0 Mbps |
|
Don't mistake the 100MB you see in your system
tray as your internet speed. 100MB stands for the speed of the network
connection between your computer and the CTS ADSL modem.
