Service Application and Agreement

WarpFactor uses ADSL technology, which refers to Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line. It is called asymmetrical because the download speeds from the Internet to the home are much faster than the upload speeds from the home to the Internet.
ADSL requires the use of a pair of special, matched modems at our central office and at your location, which we supply and install for a monthly rental fee. We also supply and install a filter on your phone line at your location to simultaneously direct low frequency Internet communications to your computer. Your telephone service and the ADSL modem can be in use at the same time on the same existing telephone line.

In order to access WarpFactor, you must reside within the suburban limits of the Town of Cochrane. Distance affects the quality of service, which limits the areas it can be offered. You must have a suitably powered PC with Internet Software (see minimum requirements below) and an Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC). We highly recommend that you install Firewall Software and use an electrical surge protector bar and outlet for all of your computer equipment and ADSL modem. We also urge you to use a competer technician to assist you in your ADSL setup.

ADSL works without dialing into a server to access the Internet. Access is available when your PC and modem are turned on (for your security, you should turn your ADSL modem off when it is not in use). Because there is no dial-up access, you cannot automatically access your account away from your computer.
